Fit Minds Think a Ride…..By Tikendrajit Saikia
My love for cycling began at a rather later stage in life. I still remember the rush that ran down my spine the first time. I started cycling during one of many early mornings. When I climbed back on, the feeling of restoration was almost instant. Once the fixation with cycling settles, it becomes a way of life. Sometimes I had go to multiple places on a single evening on my bike. Whether on a challenging trek or even a quick ride across the city, cycling spirit of tranquility that can brighten up a whole day still takes me back.
Cycling brings me joy because it gives me the freedom to just be out there, feeling the wind curl up my hair or the typical sounds of city life serenading our souls.
Why can’t we ever stop once we pedal? What makes us so intensely drawn towards it ??? It simply treats us in a way other sports cannot. For the ever increasing number of cyclists abroad and in India who have caught the fetish for cycling, we know how cycling makes our souls feel. Simply riding on my bike solo or with friends gives me a feeling of overall well being, leave alone the wonders it does to my body.

And at times when I feel ambitious about it, i take on the most challenging trips which hardly ever seem challenging when I am on my wheels. While i seek goals and master them on my cycle , its accomplishment makes me feel no less than a winner. Be it the thrill of a fast downhill or the risk of an uneven track , I see them all as opportunities , lively opportunities to seek something new in life.
Having organized rides for fun and social causes , it engages me in a manner that enables me to give back by doing something I enjoy. This is my psychology with cycling, it is addictive like drugs , except it only benefits. Now with the onset of searching summers in Guwahati, I have no excuses but to take on a hearty ride at the onset of dawn only to boost me for the rest of the day at work and otherwise.

Sometimes your work can be over whelming and demanding to stay ambitious, but who said ambition is money ? Have you ever gone on a challenging mountain trek and back, feeling like a young hearted cheetah ready to take on the world? Because you should want to live a good life not a long life.
