The End of the World – Ronjoy Bordoloi’s POEM

The End of the World

Doom is near,

Existence trembles in fear,

Earth’s worst nemesis;

Has arrived silently, devoid of Peace.

It will burn all woods,

It will kill all beasts,

It will consume the planet,

On earth’s blood, it feasts.

The Lakes will massacre the Fish,

The Swamps annihilate entire species,

The rivers, no longer fresh,

The seas rot with disease.

The Oceans shed tears of Plastic,

The drains smell of filthy garbage,

The world dies slow yet steady,

Like a discarded appendage.

As Greenhouse gases spread their kingdom,

And populations expand to the Jungles,

As flora and fauna diminishes,

And Human Greed grows in bundles;

The Nemesis will raise its ugly head one last time,

Heralding an age of death and crime,

The Earth will become a furnace,

Of lost chances and delayed awareness.

A ghastly barren world awaits,

A Dead Red Planet,

Where thirsty rocks dream of bygone days,

And empty streams cry in torment.

With no signs of precious life,

The desolate mountains scream in pain,

The dusty alleys shrivel terribly,

And speak of an attempt in vain.

No cold winds blow in this hellish desert,

Nor do sweet rains pour down from heavens,

Oily filth ravages the breathless surface,

And cadaverous bones lay, of long dead ravens.

Oh! What we have done to our beautiful abode,

Upon whose shores, marvelous dolphins rode,

Where elephants once roamed majestically,

And birds flew wonderfully.

It was once a vigorous Blue Planet,

A thriving dwelling of all existence,

Of magnanimous Oceans and Great Continents,

Of lush-full forests and rivers incessant.

Save thy Home, from apparent extinction,

Plant trees; beckon the forces of Nature,

Prepare to wrestle with the Black-Smoke Lovers,

Change the tide and rebel forever.
